Le Trec

Is an equestrian sport suitable for all ages and abilities on a variety of horses and ponies.Le Trec combines trekking, negotiating obstacles, jumping and basic flat work. You can be as competitive or as laid back as you like. Le Trec can be preformed in both english and western saddles, main emphasis is to enjoy yourself. The competition consists of three phases, the winners being those with the highest accumulated points. No one gets eliminated.

Phase 1 the orienteering on horse back usually done in pairs or three's. Phase 1 at Horadela ranges from 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs- walking only over farm tracks, wetlands and forestry.Riders given written instructions,(overseas Le Trec users compass and map skills.

Phase 2-This phase is designed to demonstrate the rider can exercise a degree of influence on the horse first in canter then in walk up to 150 meters. The concept is that the slower the horse travels in canter and the faster in walk the greater the marks awarded.

Phase 3-Involves skills and obstacles e.g.open and shut a gate, backing your horse 4 metres, negotiating a maze, canter figure 8 and show a change of leg, drag or carry an object. Le Trec is designed to test a horse/rider combination through a whole range of activities rather than focusing on one particular discipline. Jumping efforts are small logs catering for people in western saddles. I allow riders to choose between kindy level to pre-training. If you choose no to do an obstacle or jump you are not eliminated, you just don't get awarded any points.
Le Trec is a wonderful opportunity to expose young horses in a safe user friendly enviroment, no pressure on horse or rider.
